Version 1.1.1 is out!
Welcome to the JDHCP Project homepage. The goal of JDHCP is to add Dynamic Host Configuration Protocal (as specified in RFC 2131) handling to Java(tm). We have created a set of APIs for sending, receiving and representing DHCP Messages in Java(tm). This API will allow programmers to easily write DHCP clients, servers and applications. The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is an Internet protocol for automating the configuration of computers that use TCP/IP. DHCP can be used to automatically assign IP addresses, to deliver TCP/IP stack configuration parameters such as the subnet mask and default router, and to provide other configuration information such as the addresses for printer, time and news servers.
This project is being developed at Bucknell University through the independent study of Jason Goldschmidt and Nick Stone under the guidance of Professor Ralph Droms, the author of RFC 2131 and 2132 and chair of IETF DHC Working Group
Feel free to try our code, change it, fix it, break it, whatever. Just share your comments with us. JDHCP is covered by the GNU General Public License (GPL). On the download page, we have provided a sample application that is a simple standalone DHCP client simulation. Instructions on use are provided. Enjoy!
